Preparing for the future

“Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child.” Instead of trying to remove all obstacles and pave the way for the children in our life, we should instead equip them to deal with the difficulties they encounter on the road ahead. ~ Our Daily Bread

Roll With the Changes

This song reminds of a moment about 20 years ago when I signed a new huge account at UPS and lost one in the same week. My sales manager was a guy who taught me quite a few lessons. Joe told me "don't let your highs get too high and your lows get too low." That stuck with me. It taught me to "keep on rollin'" whether something great or terrible happens to me. How you perceive a moment will form your attitude. A person can easily be arrogant and brag when something great happens; your favorite team wins, you sign a new huge account, you prove your point in an argument but that can create animosity among the people around you and will have detrimental effects. That ego is always ready to kick into over gear. I have learned to enjoy that moment internally, shout a quick outburst of joy, or have a small celebration with close family and friends. If I remember I might even say a quick prayer thanking God for His blessings and ask for His help to be humble. That moment needs to be released, it is a joy of life.

On the other hand we all have times in our life when we don't like an outcome. Think about how you can learn and grow from it. "Keep on rollin'." Being a sore loser, groping, making excuses, complaining and whining about it will just pull you further down. Depending upon the situation you might need to grieve and pray about it. Ask for insight and wisdom. There's no need for bitterness. Regardless, the sun will hopefully rise the next morning and you will need to get up and create the life you want. I have found the best way for me to do that is to focus my thoughts on how I can help someone else. "Don't let your highs get too high and your lows get too low."

Last thought…the guitar solo ranks up there with the best and it just might get you pumped up for the day!

"I knew it had to happen, felt the tables turnin'
Got me through my darkest hour
I heard the thunder clappin', felt the desert burnin'
Until you poured on me like a sweet sunshower

So if you're tired of the same old story
Oh, turn some pages
I will be here when you are ready
To roll with the changes, ooooh"
~REO Speedwagon, Roll With the Changes

Being Awake

Hello,

I hope you are having a great week!

I have been watching quite a lot of the olympics and it is astounding to me how focused the athletes are before their win.  Their face, their eyes, their demeanor is in another realm.  Before their event it looks as though no one can interrupt them, break their focus.  They are truly awake in the moment of winning that gold, they are seeing it in their mind before they do it.

How about if we took this idea and put it into our own minds.  Are we truly awake with out actions and focus?  Do we want it as bad as they do?

Take a moment and picture yourself making $100,000+ a year with SFI, without thousands of team members.  How would you be living?  How would you be helping others?  Visit http://www.sfi4.com/12360426/FREE

I believe it's there for us.  We need to be awake!  To focus our everyday actions on it.

Go for the Gold and God Bless You!

Before you...

Before you speak, listen.

Before you write, think.

Before you spend, earn.

Before you invest, investigate.

Before you criticize, wait.

Before you pray, forgive.

Before you quit, try.

Before you retire, save.

Before you die, give.

Description

"WORD OF MOUSE" is the first book on the newest and most effective form of marketing from two remarkable visionaries. At the vanguard of the Internet revolution are two computer scientists from Minnesota who are pioneers of Collaborative Filtering (CF). CF is a technology that enables companies to understand their customers and in turn sell products, goods, and services with remarkable success. To test CF, John Riedl and Joseph Konstan built two Internet sites, MovieLens and GroupLens, that allowed users to customize their preferences for movies and news. The results were astounding. MovieLens demonstrated amazing accuracy, almost ensuring that the recommendation would prove enjoyable. In "WORD OF MOUSE," the authors analyze dozens of companies from Best Buy to Amazon to TiVo and show what these companies are doing right and what they are doing wrong. Riedl and Konstan map out a broad range of strategies that companies can employ to raise revenue, customer loyalty, and satisfaction.
